The shutdown of messaging service X continues in Brazil | News in brief

With 21.5 million users, Brazil is the company’s sixth largest market.

In Brazil, the jury of the country’s highest court has unanimously decided to uphold the ban on the use of the messaging service X.

As a result of the decision, the ban will continue until the company complies with the court orders and pays the fines.

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes decided earlier last week to block access to the social platform in the entire country after X did not appoint a new legal representative for the company in Brazil by the deadline.

Moraes and owner of X Elon Musk have already been embroiled in months-long disputes after X refused to shut down user accounts that the court said were spreading fake news and hate speech.

With 21.5 million X users, Brazil is the company’s sixth largest market.
