The shootings in Södertälje: Kalashnikovs from Yugoslavia have been used

Almost 30 years after the disintegration of Yugoslavia, weapons from the war continue to flow into Sweden. In recent weeks, the police have, among other things, seized three Yugoslav Kalashnikovs in Södertälje.

Since 2018, NFC, the national forensic center, has linked 147 seized weapons from shootings in Sweden to smuggled military weapons from the former Yugoslavia.

SVT went to Sarajevo

At the same time that shootings are increasing in Sweden, the smugglers are making a lot of money by supplying weapons to gang criminals. SVT Nyheter Södertälje went to Sarajevo to find out how weapons from the Balkans end up in the hands of gang criminals in Sweden.
