Ski king Johannes Hösflot Kläbo wants to leave the Norwegian national ski team.
Only one week remains until the Norwegian national ski team presents its squad for the upcoming ski season. Then the whole of Norway is shaken by a shock announcement that can now have major consequences for the future.
Kläbo’s message
The big star Johannes Hösflot Kläbo namely can leave the Norwegian national skiing team with immediate effect. The Norwegian has dominated the World Cup in recent years and excelled during this year’s World Ski Championships in Planica with 3 World Cup golds and 2 World Cup silvers for Norway.

“We do not want to go into what the communication with the association looks like regarding a new season. But we have not made a decision whether it will be the national team or not,” writes the manager and father Haakon Kläbo in an email to the Norwegian newspaper VG.
“What is certain is that Johannes will continue to train for the WC 2025 in Trondheim.”

“A Dissatisfaction”
One of the reasons why Kläbo is hesitating about the future is that he wants to be able to spend more time preparing for the 2025 World Ski Championships at home in Trondheim.
– I think he is not satisfied with how things have been with the national team, because if he were, he probably wouldn’t open up to anything other than the national team. I think he asks himself if the national team sees his value, says the columnist Birger Löfaldli to the Norwegian newspaper.
– I think it is a clear dissatisfaction on his part.

If Kläbo chooses to leave the national team, it could have major consequences for the skid-Norge.TV2 expert Petter Skinstad believes that the Norwegian Skiing Association risks lowering its market value so much that it threatens future sponsorship agreements if the big poster name disappears.
