The shock message: Milan’s drastic action for Zlatan Ibrahimovic – may now have a different role: “A luxury resource”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The final chapter may be written for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
At least if the reputable La Gazzetta dello Sport is to be believed.
The newspaper writes that “Ibra” will most likely put his shoes on the shelf after the season.

The tours around Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been incredibly many since the Swede injured his knee after AC Milan’s league title in the 2022 season. The 41-year-old was then forced into surgery, which has kept him out of action ever since.

Unexpected message

Since the operation, there has been fresh speculation about when the Swedish super-striker can possibly be back on the field, and the goal has always been to get Ibrahimovic ready to play until AC Milan face Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where the first meeting is played on February 14.

But unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be coming true. Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, which is usually highly regarded, reports that Milan have decided to bid farewell to Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the end of the 2023 season. At least as a player. The newspaper further writes that “Ibra” will instead have a role as ambassador for the club.

“A luxury resource”

His name and his person are of great value to the Italian club, but the information suggests that Ibrahimovic will not be part of any kind of staff or board. Instead, the ambassadorship, the framework of which does not yet appear to be set, will mean that he will continue with his private business activities.

But the rest of the 2023 season then? La Gazzetta dello Sport sees it as “an impossibility” that Zlatan could be back for the matches in the Champions League. Instead, the Swede seems to focus on maybe jumping in a bit from the bench during the spring.
“It is a luxury resource to throw in during the match, the man of the big matches”, writes the newspaper.

At the same time, Ibrahimovic’s future in the Swedish national team is becoming increasingly unclear.
