The shock announcement that shakes the entire SHL – Rögle now fires the successful brothers Chris and Cam Abbott

SHL team Rögle fires sporting director Chris Abbott and head coach Cam Abbott. Roger Hansson, Max Bohlin and Peter Hirsch will share the coaching duties until further notice, while Hampus Sjöström will be acting sports director.

The Ängelholm club has had a difficult start to the season and is in eleventh place in the SHL.
“First and foremost I would like to thank Chris and Cam for their dedication and hard work during their time at the club. I have great respect for both and I am very proud of the way they helped develop Rögle BK. A decision like this is sad to have to make, but we make the assessment that this is the right way to go for the club,” says Rögle’s club director Daniel Koch to the club website.

The Abbott brothers’ last game at the helm was Saturday’s 2-5 loss at home to Leksand. It was Rögle’s third loss in a row.
“The last few days have been challenging sportingly and we haven’t had the exchange we wanted. Therefore, we feel that we need to make a change,” says Koch.

Chris Abbott and Cam Abbott joined Rögle in autumn 2017 and has led the club to a first SM final in 2021 and CHL title in 2022.

New coaching trio Roger Hanson, Max Bohlin and Peter Hirschwho all already work at the club, will make their debut against Växjö on December 19.
