It looked like there would be no continuation in Skellefteå for Joakim Lindström. But now it is clear that the forward signs a new contract with the club.
– I want to win SM gold again, he says.

Joakim Lindström unexpectedly chose not to train with Skellefteå during the summer. The 38-year-old didn’t know whether he would continue with hockey or not, but has now made a decision.

Writing a new contract

It will be at least another year. Because on Friday, Skellefteå communicated that they have agreed with Joakim Lindström on an agreement over the coming season.

– Of course, it feels great to have finished with Jocke. We have had a dialogue for a long time and he needed some time to feel that he had the strength to give everything, says the club’s sporting director Erik Forssell.

He continues:

– He (Lindström) feels extremely happy and motivated to win once more and getting his drive and quality into the group will be extremely important for us in the fight to win SM gold.

Joakim Lindström is strongly associated with Skellefteå. The forward has so far played eleven seasons in Västerbotten, and won two SM gold with the yellow and black club.

“Want to win SM gold”

And it is the possibility of winning another gold that drives the 38-year-old to continue for another year.

– I feel that I have a little left to give and this particular chance to win again… To win with the boys, that would have been the ultimate. I get that chance here and now, to be part of it and try to win SM gold again. That’s what drives me, says Joakim Lindström.
