Hamburger chain Brödernas has bought Väsby IK.
Which has caused enormously strong reactions throughout hockey Sweden.
Now a supporter group acts immediately with a clear boycott and is widely praised.
On Wednesday evening, it received enormous attention that the hamburger chain Brödernas is buying into the classic hockey club Väsby IK. Which means that Väsby will change both its name and club brand starting next season to Brödernas Väsby IK HK.
The Great Rage
The buyout has led to really strong reactions around hockey Sweden and caused great fury. The brothers and also the co-owner Mika Zibaenjad has received a lot of criticism for just stepping in and taking over Väsby’s hockey team.

On social media, many hockey profiles and supporters have vented their great dissatisfaction. NHL star Zibanejad even had to come out and publicly respond to the criticism with a statement.

SHL fans act
The anger has now caused a supporter group in the SHL to act immediately to show their displeasure with the whole situation. It is Timrå IK Supporterklubb that goes into a boycott of Brödernas by ending the collaboration with the hamburger chain.
“ATTENTION! Timrå IK Supporterklubb strongly protects the 51% rule. We have therefore ended the cooperation with membership offers with Brödernas with immediate effect. We are looking for a replacement offer,” the supporters wrote in a statement on Twitter.

The action is now highly praised in social media and a lot of praise is sent to the Timrå supporters who actively take a stand to protect member democracy in Swedish hockey, see the post below.
