After the SHL coach had a nasty accident in a training session.
The 37-year-old immediately had to go by ambulance to the Central Hospital in Karlstad, reports Värmland’s Folkblad.
It was during one of Färjestad’s training sessions on Monday that the serious accident occurred. FBK’s goalkeeper coach Maciej Szwoch lost his grip during physical exercise and flew into the ground at full speed and hit his head on a training weight, reports Värmland’s Folkblad.
The nasty accident
Immediately, a blacked-out Szwoch had to go by ambulance to the Central Hospital in Karlstad and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit. The 37-year-old is said to have suffered a skull fracture, two minor bleeds and a severe concussion, according to information.

The goalkeeper coach will remain in the hospital for a week, at least. But he will not need surgery for his skull fracture.
– Otherwise, I feel good – under the circumstances. I’m very tough, sleep a lot. Which is not so strange. So it’s a serious concussion, time will heal it, says Szwoch to the local newspaper.
– But I have been and done tests and have balance and nerves and all that kind of thing left in my face.

“Back soon”
During the time that the goalkeeping coach is in the hospital, Färjestad’s J20 goalkeeping coach will come Daniel Hansen to replace Szwoch in the A team.
– I have not been afraid, not at all. But I’m so tired. It feels like the brain can’t quite fit inside the head. A constant pressure. But you will probably see that I am back on the ice soon, says the SHL coach in the interview.

Maciej Szwoch came to Färjestads BK back in 2015 and has been goalkeeper coach for eight seasons now. Before that he was a goalkeeper coach in Modo, Frölunda, Växjö and Nybro.
Last season he participated and won an incredibly long-awaited SM gold with Färjestad.
