The setback that can reduce your pension by SEK 30,000 – every year: “Expensive deal”

The setback that can reduce your pension by SEK 30000

We are currently in a recession characterized by higher unemployment among other things.

Unemployment affects not only your income but also your future pension. Even if you have worked most of your life, a period of unemployment can have major consequences for your pension.

– The pension in Sweden is based on the income you had during your working life and unemployment and involuntary retirement at the end of the career therefore becomes an expensive business for those who are affected, says Trifa Chirehpension economist at Länsförsäkringar in a press release.

This is what the pension will look like in 2024: They will receive SEK 1,500 more per month

Your pension can be reduced by SEK 30,000

A person who is privately employed with a salary of SEK 40,000 a month who becomes unemployed at the age of 60 receives a pension of SEK 21,600 per month for life. If the same person were to work until the age of 65, the pension would be SEK 24,200. This means that the difference will be as large as SEK 31,200 per year.

– For many, a dismissal can mean long-term unemployment or lead to early retirement, which can have a big impact on the pension.

Therefore, men have SEK 7,300 more in pensions – every month: “Equalized”
