The series Dexter has just entered its third round at Paramount+ *. Dexter: Original Sin tells of the murderous beginnings of serial killer Dexter Morgan. So after the miniseries Dexter: New Blood was a sequel, the latest series is (mostly) a prequel. In addition to the fourth Dexter series, Dexter: Resurrection, which has already been announced for next year, there is also one Spin-off to the worst enemy Michael C. Hall’s character is not yet off the table, as has now surprisingly been revealed.
Dexter’s series universe continues to grow: The Trinity Killer returns rejuvenated
The News about new Dexter series can cause confusion among fans of the infamous serial killer: After the controversial end of the sequel series New Blood, showrunner Clyde Phillips announced almost two years ago that 3 new Dexter series were being planned: one about Dexter’s youth, one about Harrison and one about the Trinity Killer. This summer, the team surprisingly announced only 2 new Dexter series at Comic-Con: Young Dexter (Original Sin) was still there, but another sequel with Michael C. Hall was added (Resurrection).
The series about Dexter’s son Harrison as well as the Beginnings of the Trinity Killer seemed off the table. It was rumored that the story about Dexter’s most dangerous enemy from season 4, Arthur Mitchell (John Lithgow), was off the table. However, as Deadline now reports, Trinity is not dead, but rather Series still in development. Clyde Phillips told the industry publication this December:
We have them Wrote the entire Trinity Killer series. At the moment it’s just on ice. John Lithgow agreedspeaking the voice of his younger self, like Michael C. Hall [es für Original Sin tut].
Arthur Mitchell was Dexter’s great adversary in the acclaimed fourth season of the main series. He murdered (contrary to his name) not just three, but four victims in the same pattern before moving on. Like Dexter, he lived as a family man and was hard to catch. In the end he was caught and killed by Dexter, but not before murdering his wife Rita in the bathtub.
Priority is currently given to the Trinity series by the two other Dexter series – Original Sin, which is currently broadcast weekly, and Resurrectionwhich will be filmed from January and start in June 2025 should. But that doesn’t mean Trinity won’t continue to grow the Dexter universe at some point in the future, as long as audiences continue to show interest in stories from its murderous world.
These series will be part of the Dexter universe in the future:
