The resolution was drafted by Malta and was adopted by twelve votes.
The council’s call is for “urgent and extended humanitarian pauses and corridors throughout the Gaza Strip to be established for a sufficient number of days” to allow aid to reach civilians in the besieged territory.
Three states abstained from voting – the United States, Great Britain and Russia.
