Back then it took a long time to find the screenplay for Die Hard. The story, which differs significantly from its predecessors, only came after one turned the original idea into one of the worst movie sequels of all time became.

Den of Geek has broken down the origin stories of each Die Hard part in more detail. After the screenplays for the first two films were initially intended for other projects, the road to the realization of Die was slow – now even more bumpy.
The first draft of the script was called Troubleshooter. In it, John McClane was supposed to fight terrorists on a Caribbean cruise ship (!). Since Red Alert was already in production at the time, with Steven Seagal having a similar storyline, Troubleshooter’s story framework was eventually recycled into Speed 2: Cruise Control. The flopped action sequel to the Keanu Reeves hit is considered an absolute disaster.
A new screenplay, titled Simon Says, was later picked up and considered for a potential fourth Lethal Weapon film. At that time, the script was rewritten and tailored for John McClane, which became Die Hard 3.
The third part of the action series clearly stands out from its predecessors. The concept was now exhausted and many similar action films were labeled die hard clones back then.
With the buddy-cop dynamics between Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, who have to deal with a perfidious terror scavenger hunt in the big city, came fresh wind in line.
When is Die Hard 3 on TV?
The third Die Hard part will be released on July 23 at 8:15 p.m. on RTL aired. The uncut version will be shown at 00:15 at night.
