The seasons first named storm in the Atlantic

Tropical Storm Alex, the first named storm for the Atlantic hurricane season, appears to be passing near Bermuda.

Alex has been strengthening across the Atlantic since Sunday, and has sustained winds of over 31 meters per second. Early on Monday morning, Swedish time, the storm was about 400 km west of Bermuda, where warnings were issued for heavy rainfall and winds.

The storm has led to three deaths in Cuba and floods in American Florida.
