When the final whistle sounded and announced a 4-0 home victory for Färjestad in the meeting with Växjö in the SHL ice hockey, the outfield players competed to give the first hug to goalkeeper Max Lagacé. Veteran defender Magnus Nygren managed to arrive just before team captain Linus Johansson.
By then the crowd had already chanted Lagacé’s name several times during the match.
– I couldn’t be happier. It was a really good evening and I really appreciate the fans, says the goalkeeper.
Logical zero
Perhaps it was logical that it was against Växjö that the first zero came. Only Modo has scored fewer goals than the Smålands in the SHL and the loss in Karlstad was the fourth in a row.
Färjestad is feeling much better after three straight victories with a combined goal difference of 16-4. Max Lagacé has played seven games in a row, which has contributed to promotion after a difficult start to the season.
Tomasek up to the top of the shooting league
In the second period, David Tomasek took over the lead in the scoring league from teammate Oskar Steen when he made it 1–0 on a turnover and 2–0 on penalties, for a total of 15 goals.
In the third, Per Åslund and Alexander Ljungkrantz made it 4–0.
