Charlotte Baris: You are walking down the street when, suddenly, you arrive at a college. It’s 3 p.m., time for afternoon recess. The students leave the establishment and lean against the low brick wall, to the right of the gate. They chat enthusiastically, send messages, watch social networks, schoolbags and bags on their backs.
But one detail catches your attention. Among them, some hold small colored pens between their fingers. They bring them to their mouths, before blowing out a cloud with a sweet smell. What they smoke are puffs.
The puff is this small single-use electronic cigarette. It is equipped with a non-rechargeable battery and a tank pre-filled with a scented liquid. You don’t even need a button to operate it, just vacuum. It’s very simple to use, and that’s what pleases it. Well-crafted marketing, with colorful packaging and sweet flavors, which is attracting more and more young people. And that is not without worrying the government…
Behind this puff boom among young people, there are also all the other electronic cigarettes: disposable ones, rechargeable ones, those with or without nicotine… In this episode of La Loupe, we are interested in what science really says on vaping devices. And you will hear, it is not only tobacco that is taboo…
