In the field of science fiction, Keanu Reeves was part of a real cult series as Neo in The Matrix, the fourth part of which was only published last year. In the genre, however, the actor has not just achievements celebrated.
The sci-fi film, in which Reeves as a scientist wants to clone his family who died in an accident, didn’t exactly move the masses. Rather, he became one of the biggest flops in the actor’s career.

Upon release, the sci-fi film made sure of that worst US starting weekend in the star’s career. Replicas starring Keanu Reeves grossed just $2.5 million in over 2,200 theaters. After that it didn’t get any better. According to Box Office Mojo, the film only grossed around $9.3 million worldwide on a budget of just over $30 million.

However, a flopped film does not have to be bad. In terms of quality, however, Replicas was anything but positive. On the US review portal Rotten Tomatoes, the sci-fi flick only gets a meager average rating of 11 percent. Individual excerpts criticize replicas awful CGI effects and a terrible script full of logical errors and ridiculous developments.
In the Moviepilot community, the sci-fi flop comes at least to one Average rating of 5.4 with over 500 reviews. However, this value does not exactly scream for a recommendation either.
