The school shooter received the murder weapon as a Christmas present – from his father

Four people died in the school shooting at a school in Georgia, USA on Wednesday.
The suspected shooter, 14-year-old Colt Gray, was arrested just minutes later.
At the same time, the boy’s father is accused of involvement – according to CNN sources, he allegedly gave his son the murder weapon as a Christmas present.

Two teachers and two students fell victim to the shooting inside Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia on Wednesday. At least nine others were injured.

14-year-old student Colt Gray entered the school buildings with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and opened fire. He was arrested just minutes later.

The FBI and the police have had their eyes on Gray before. Already in 2023, he was investigated by the police for contributing to a threat on social media about a school shooting, writes the BBC. Then Gray denied that he was behind the threat. Conflicting evidence meant no arrest could be made.

The father must have given guns as a Christmas present

During the night, the boy’s father was also charged with several counts of causing the death of another and manslaughter. He must have been aware that the son had a weapon.

The police also point out that the father had many weapons at home, and taught his son to hunt.

According to sources to CNN the father is said to have given the son the weapon used in the attack as a Christmas present for the son.

Chief of Police: An evil act

On Thursday evening, the Barrow County Sheriff spoke again about the shooting.

– A young person brought a gun into a school and committed an evil act. He killed and hurt a lot of people — not only physically but mentally, Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said at a news conference Thursday night.

Colt Gray is charged with four counts of murder and will be charged as an adult. His first court appearance is on Friday.

The school shooting was the 45th in the United States this year.
