The “scapegoat” set a record with seven Guldbaggar

The Gold Beetle Gala was dominated by the “Scapegoat”, which set a new record with its seven awards. Never before has a film received so many Golden Bugs during the award’s 60-year history.

– This is very strange! It’s not rigged even if it feels like it, exclaimed Axel Petersén when he accepted the award for best director.

The film, a thriller about reconciliation between two old friends among expatriate Swedes in Malta, was awarded the award for best male lead (Joel Spira) and supporting actor (Christopher Wagelin). In addition, there were awards for best original music, editing, photo and sound design.

But “The Scapegoat” was not even nominated in the best film category. Instead, Mika Gustafson’s drama “Paradiset Brinner” won there.

Persbrandt not in place

“Scapegoat” was nominated in nine categories and the rain of awards over that film meant that there was no more than one award for another early favorite, “Hammarskjöld”, which had seven nominations.

Mikael Persbrandt was nominated for a Guldbagge for best male lead in “Hammarskjöld”, but was not present at the gala. On the other hand, it was Lena Olin, nominated for her first Golden Beetle, for the lead role in the romantic comedy “Andra akten”. But that award went to Anja Lundqvist for “Together 99”.

“The Adversary” also had seven nominations, but the migration drama received only one award, for Marall Nasiri for Best Actress.

Inger “Pippi” Nilsson was celebrated

Inger Nilsson was awarded the Gullspira for the role of Pippi 55 years ago. It is the first time that the Gullspiran award goes to an actor and the audience rose to their feet to applaud the actor.

– I often get asked what the best part of playing Pippi was. It was then that I got in touch with the theater and the film. It has been the most important thing for me, so thank you Pippi, said Inger Nilsson.

Marie Göranzon received this year’s honorary award, 62 years after her film debut in “Kort er sommar” in 1962.

– I don’t want to thank anyone in particular, but I want to thank life for allowing me to be a part of it, she said to the cheers of the audience.

71 names on the body – in protest

Marall Nasiri who was awarded the award for best actress in the movie “The Adversary”, received her Golden Beetle with the names of 71 imprisoned Iranian women written on her torso.

– There are 71 names of political prisoners in Iran who are currently resisting the regime in the prisons, she says.

– I want to remind you that the protests in Iran are still ongoing.

“Motståndaren”, which is about an Iranian family that is forced to flee to northern Sweden. The father of the family, Imam, who is an elite wrestler, finds refuge in the local wrestling club, but a secret from his past comes to light.
