Spain captain Alvaro Morata was injured while celebrating with his team the EC final place. A troublemaker ran from the stands onto the field, followed by a group of orderlies. A security guard wearing a light vest slipped and bumped into Morata.
The center forward reacted to the situation by grimacing, started holding his knee and flashed the team picture.
So Spain celebrated at the Munich stadium in front of their own supporters. The team had just beaten France 2–1 in the EC semi-finals. After the match ended, several other people rushed onto the field from the stands, but the situations were apparently resolved without any unpleasant incidents.
In the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, it was not yet known how badly Morata hurt himself.
Also earlier in the same match, a troublemaker was able to rush onto the field. A person arrived from the stands holding a smartphone. He wanted to take a picture with the French captain Kylian Mbappé with.
Häirikkö got to the star player and apparently got a picture. Mbappé tried to push the person away from him, and eventually the rioters were subdued by the security guards.
Hairkkö took a picture with Mbappé…
then the French pushed the troublemaker into the arms of the orderlies.
The troublemaker didn’t care, but admired the picture he had just taken.
These events were not the first time in these European Championships that spectators have entered the field from the stands. The situation was at its worst in the opening group match between Portugal and Turkey.
Several troublemakers rushed from the stands to the field, all of whom probably wanted a photo of the Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo with. To the first troublemaker, Ronaldo reacted with amusement and even seemed to agree to the picture. Later in the match, Portugal’s star player was clearly frustrated and pushed the troublemakers away from him.
The crowd of fans onto the field completely messed up the end of the Portugal-Turkey match. Also after the end of that game, the security guard was bumped by a Portuguese striker to Goncalo Ramos, who limped to his knee on the way to the dressing room. Ramos’ injury did not prevent him from playing in the next match.
