SANDERSON. At least 10 people were killed in a stabbing attack on Sunday September 4 in Canada, Saskatchewan. The investigation favors racist murder, two suspects, Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson are actively sought.

[Mis à jour le 5 septembre 2022 à 9h28] Canada is in shock after a knife attack occurred this Sunday, September 4, 2022 in the province of Saskatchewan. There are more than 25 victims, including at least 10 dead and seriously injured, as a result of this very violent stabbing: many of those killed and attacked were from the indigenous community of the town of James Smith Cree Nation and the township of Weldon, which suggests quite clearly that the motive for these murders is primarily racist.

The assistant commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Rhonda Blackmore, spoke a few hours ago at a press conference, to give the first elements of the investigation: according to the police, two people were identified as the suspects in this knife attack, obviously coordinated. They are two men called Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson, aged 30 and 31.

The two individuals suspected of this attack, which some Canadian media describe as an attack – given the carefully prepared nature of these murders – fled and are actively sought. The first killings took place early in the morning, police said, the perpetrators of the attack managed to operate without directly confronting the police. They managed to hit the road in a black Nissan Rogue, with Saskatchewan license plate 119 MPI. According to the first elements of the investigation, it seems established that “some of the victims were targeted by the suspects and that others were attacked at random”.

The police released the portrait of the two men with their physical description. Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson could have been spotted in the Regina area according to the police, who insisted on one element: the two men are considered armed and dangerous, they must not be approached.

If the authorities have identified ten people killed, the number of injured is considerable. “Several victims were injured, fifteen of whom have so far been transported to various hospitals,” said the assistant commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, indicating that the perpetrators of this killing had targeted people in several places, in a gruesome journey. The police must currently investigate “numerous crime scenes”.

Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) spokeswoman Anne Lindemann gave further information: “We can confirm that several people have been triaged and cared for at multiple sites and that a call for additional staffing has taken place to help respond to this situation. We are unable to confirm any additional details at this time.”

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau on Twitter, reacted on the social network Twitter: “Today’s attacks in Saskatchewan are horrific and heartbreaking. I am thinking of those who have lost loved ones and those who have been wounded”.
