An animal keeper at the Skansen Aquarium in Stockholm was hospitalized for nine days after being bitten by a lance snake. Now the incident is reported to the Work Environment Agency.

The snake, which was originally found in Uppsala, remains at the Skansen Aquarium.
The lance snake is a poisonous viper that naturally lives in Central America and northern South America. It is considered one of the world’s most aggressive venomous snakes.

The zookeeper was changing water for the snake, which is temporarily at the Skansen Aquarium, when he was stabbed in two fingers.
The man was transported to hospital where he remained for over a week. His arm and hand have been “very swollen and hurt a lot”, according to the report according to Aftonbladet.
– The employee is now on the road to recovery, states Jonas Wahlström at Skansen-Akvariet for Upsala Nya Tidning.
