The fact that finances are strained at the Sami Parliament is nothing new, but now they can be forced to give notice and cutbacks.
In a savings proposal, they want to reduce the number of posts by nine percent at the chancellery, where the number of managers would, however, remain unchanged.
Now the union at the Sami Parliament has commented in a letter on the significance of the cuts. One considers, among other things:
“The Sámi Parliament lowers its level of ambition in terms of Sámi language, Sámi culture and information about Sámi conditions.”“We fear that we will not meet the requirements placed on government authorities in terms of digitization, development and maintenance of operational systems necessary for our operations.”“The Sámi Parliament will not be able to live up to expectations after the truth commission has completed its work and submitted proposals for measures.”The union also proposes several suggestions on how to avoid notifying multiple positions, including:
That the Sámi Parliament reduces its need for external consultants and takes inventory of the skills that existing staff possess. That an in-depth review be made of where savings can be made within the Sámi Parliament, which applies to both the elected officials and the chancellery.Stt the vacant position as HR manager is not filled.sv-general-01
