Ebba Busch has gone on a hard attack against Magdalena Andersson after the party leader debate on Wednesday, which again put the S member Jamal El-Haj in the center.

The Social Democrats’ party secretary Tobias Baudin is now hitting back against Ebba Busch.

– For a person like Ebba Busch, who is convicted of gross defamation, it is very gut-wrenching to come up with this type of accusation, says Baudin.

“Unworthy”. That was Ebba Busch’s statement about S leader Magdalena Andersson’s actions during the party leader debate in the Riksdag on Wednesday.

Busch also calls for Andersson to “keep his party clean” of anti-Semitism, with the proviso that the S leader should call Jimmie Åkesson to learn how to exclude members with “questionable views”, as Busch puts it.

Now the Social Democrats’ party secretary Tobias Baudin hits back at Ebba Busch.

– For a person like Ebba Busch, who is convicted of gross defamation, it is very gut-wrenching to come up with this type of accusation, he says.

– To carry on incitement campaigns and pure personal persecution against members of the Riksdag and the country’s opposition leader is so undignified.

The storm around El-Haj

Since last summer, Jamal El-Haj has been banned from participating in the Riksdag’s foreign affairs committee, where he has a seat as a deputy. At the turn of the year, the party must make a decision whether his timeout should be extended or not.

During the debate on Wednesday, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) said that he believes there is terror romance in parts of S. To this Magdalena Andersson responded by pointing out that Jamal El-Haj lost family members in the recent war in Gaza, something El-Haj confirmed for Aftonbladet.

Tobias Baudin believes that his party colleague has been accused of being a terrorist by the prime minister.

– To claim that there are terrorist connections, then you are de facto saying that he would be a terrorist. These are completely unfounded accusations. It’s terrible what a campaign of incitement is going on now.

Are you confident that Jamal El-Haj is distancing himself from Hamas?

– He has been super clear that he distances himself from Hamas. Of course I trust him.

full screen Riksdag member El-Haj (circled) participated in a conference in Malmö earlier this year, where he sat to the right of Amin Abu Rashid, who is considered to be close to Hamas.

El-Haj has declined interviews since last summer. He now refers to the ongoing preliminary investigation concerning gross defamation after he reported the moderate Fredrik Kärrholm for gross defamation.

As an elected official, shouldn’t Jamal El-Haj speak to the media?

– When you have lost 36 family members, talking to the media about unfounded accusations is not what comes to mind, but he has been clear that he strongly distances himself from Hamas.
