Russia’s intervention in Ukraine affected the world in many areas, including energy and oil. Egypt announced that it has temporarily banned the export of oil, corn and bulgur wheat in order to prevent the price increase in some food products.

In the news in the Egyptian official news agency MENA, it was stated that the export of oil (all types of oil), wheat bulgur and corn in the country was temporarily stopped for 3 months.

In the news, it was stated that the decision in question will come into force as of today.

In a statement to the press today, Egyptian Trade Minister Nevin Cami stated that this decision was taken in coordination with Egyptian Development Minister Ali al-Musilhi.

Minister Cami noted that this decision was taken in order to fully meet the basic food needs of the people, especially with the approach of Ramadan.

Egypt announced on March 11 that exports of wheat, flour, pasta, lentils and beans were temporarily suspended for 3 months.
