It is the rumor that the whole of hockey Sweden is talking about.
Roger Rönnberg will leave Frölunda for a new club.
But now the new team fights back and reveals the truth.
Over 10 years ago joined Roger Rönnberg to Frölunda’s organization. Since then, as head coach, he has taken the club to two SM golds and four CHL titles.
Rönnberg’s future
But now the end is approaching for Rönnberg’s era in Gothenburg. In the spring of 2025, the current contract expires, and more and more things suggest that he will say goodbye to Frölunda then.

Last month it was reported that the 52-year-old from Luleå is already ready for a new club and will take over Swiss ZSC Lions, when the contract with Frölunda expires. Rönnberg himself has denied the information and now the Lions are also coming out and revealing the truth.
Now striking back
The Swiss write on their official website that they don’t usually comment like this publicly, but want to do it out of respect for the current head coach Marc Crawford.
“A Swedish site recently spread a rumor that coach Roger Rönnberg would leave his club Frölunda after his contract expired in 2025 and move to ZSC Lions in Switzerland. As the rumor has surfaced several times in the Swiss media, ZSC Lions would like to clarify. It’s fake! Roger Rönnberg has already said the same thing,” the club writes in a press release.

Current coach Crawford has a contract until the spring of 2025 and previously the club has had Swedish head coaches such as Rikard Grönborg, Hans Wallson and Lars Johansson. Whether it will be Roger Rönnberg from autumn 2025 remains to be seen.
