The ruling party weakened as Mongolia’s parliament expanded | News in brief

The most important issues of the election were corruption and the financial situation of the citizens.

In Mongolia’s parliamentary elections held yesterday, the ruling People’s Party received the most votes. The Democratic Party came second, and the anti-corruption HUN party came third.

In Mongolia, the number of representatives of the parliament, the “Great Hural”, was increased from 76 to 126. Voters could now vote not only in relative elections, but also for individual candidates in the regions.

With the reform, the power of the People’s Party, which had led the country for a long time, weakened. It now received only 54 percent of the votes, while before the reform it had about 80 percent of the parliamentary seats.

The top topics of the elections were the eradication of corruption and the financial situation of the citizens.
