In the third semi-final of the hockey SM league, Tappara easily beat tame HIFK with goals 5–2 and took the lead in the series with a 2–1 win.
– Today we saw the best Tappara in Europe. They played very well and actively, but we didn’t see the best HIFK in Stadi. We lost quite a few games today. The match itself, the special situations, the goalie game and apparently the referee game was also lost after the last game. There are many games going on, but we have to move forward quickly, IFK coach Ville Peltonen hinted at ice pool imbalance (Tappara 1×2, HIFK 8×2 min).
Helsinki IFK, which fell into the ice, paid a heavy price for their first four two minutes, of which Tappara scored no less than three overtime goals.
– HIFK’s “strange” behavior regarding cooling. They were all totally stupid and undisciplined. There was no real, hard playing in the way the visitors played. Tappara, on the other hand, was blunt, rough and determined. The home team looked like we have the puck expert, but not you, Puhee’s puck expert Ismo Lehkonen your picture.
HIFK is missing three center forwards for the match Eetu Koivistoinen, Juha Jääskä and Miro Väänänen (game ban) and also a pier Sebastian Dyk, defenders Ilari Melart and long-term patient Kasper Kotkansalo.
– IFK had three out of four top centers on the sidelines, that’s a lot! My wild guess is that HIFK has some kind of disease going around. When the leading players Melart, Jääskä and Koivistoinen were missing from HIFK, then Larssonin and teissalat took unruly absences. This is how it goes easily in ice hockey, explained Lehkonen at Tampere’s fathers versus sons evening speech.
In the press exam, Peltonen did not go behind the absent players in the loss, but stated that the players in the lineup did not get the best out of themselves.
– We had the necessary number of players, and everyone is believed and trusted. It is quite clear that everyone can improve on this. We are not afraid of anything (flu wave or similar), but we know that this spring we have to cross so many fences and go through tight gaps as a team, Peltonen said.
Tappara showed the opponent a place in the closet right away in the first set, which they won 3–1. Christian Tanus hit twice and Joni Tuulola once. You will become HIFK’s number one center with a quick alert Alexander Kaskimäki made a narrowing of the guests.
The home team could have led the match with even more goals, but Roope Taponen took a few important shots in goal. The shots of the first set went to Tappara 24–6.
HIFK also collapsed at the beginning of the second period, where Tappara practically hit the nail in the coffin for the visitors. Brother Matti Savinainen shot from a direct attack into the front upper corner of the puck through Taponen’s equipment in 21.10.
The visitors’ coaching staff wanted to have mercy on the first keeper Tapo due to the loose attitude of the HIFK players, and switched between the posts in the 1-4 loss position for the first time in this season’s playoffs Niilo Halonen.
– F-level mistakes and cold feet from HIFK players. A very right move to take Taponen out and let him start charging for the next game, emphasized expert Lehkonen.
Tappara led the fight after two sets 5–1. Savinainen and Walter Merelän made their hits from special situations. At the end of the set, kirvesrinna wasted a five-on-three that lasted two minutes, when the team’s biggest goal flame had gone out. The shots before the third period were no less than 54-8 for Tappara.
Jussi Tapolan the guards took their foot off the gas in the third period, and HIFK started winning duels.
Leevi Teissala spooned Roni Hirvonen excellent preparation in front of the goal for a 2–5 reduction in front of the goal in 44.23. Immediately after this, Hirvonen was the loudest Christian Heljangon with, but the finish was lame. Tappara only did what was necessary at the end and skied the remaining minutes, saving energy.
– The third batch was cosmetics, underlined Peltonen.
The next two games of the semifinal series will be played on Friday and Monday – also at the Tampere arena.
