Sweden outclassed everyone and took a historic triple in the WC.
As usual, the royal couple sends a golden greeting – with an unexpected detail.
“You are the best girls in the world”, write the king and queen in their tribute.
It was a phenomenal start to the Ski World Cup 2023 in Planica, Slovenia, when our Swedish ski ladies took full advantage of the sprint in the World Cup premiere. As many as four blue-and-yellow skaters made it to the final, and there was a great, Swedish display.
Swedish triple
All four blue-and-yellow skaters finished ahead of the two Norwegians in the final race, and after the finish, a huge cheer erupted for our Swedish WC heroes. The reigning world champion Jonna Sundling won another WC gold in the sprint, Emma Ribom took care of the WC silver and Maja Dahlqvist clinched the WC bronze ahead of his teammate Lynn Svahn who came fourth.

A powerful Swedish foursome and a solid confirmation to the rest of the skiing world that Sweden’s ladies really dominate in the sprint. The tributes have poured in since then and so has the skiing legend Charlotte Kalla has taken the opportunity to send his congratulations to his former teammates.

King’s greeting

But unlike before when you only sent greetings to WC gold medalists, say hello King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia with an unexpected detail this time – by paying tribute to all four riders.
“With my heart in my throat – you made our day! Today you are the best girls in the world. Four times congratulations!”, writes the royal couple in an open letter on Instagram, see below.
