Sweden put on a great show in Wednesday’s distance race.
When Hanna Öberg and Linn Persson won WC gold and WC silver.
After the Swedish double, there was also a neat greeting from the royal couple – with a suitable choice of words for Öberg.
It was a complete Swedish success in the women’s distance race during the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof, Germany. When the competitors pushed themselves away completely, the super duo could Hanna Öberg and Lynn Persson keep your nerves under control and enter a blue-yellow duel for the WC gold.
Öberg WC gold
The giant Persson was the first to cross the finish line and had the WC gold in her hands for a short while before she had to see her teammate Öberg cross the finish line and snuff her out for the most precious medal. But she had to celebrate a really impressive World Cup silver instead and in the goal net the joy was total after the Swedish gold and silver party.

The WC gold in the distance race became Sweden’s first gold medal this world championship and after the race, as usual, a congratulatory message was sent from the royal couple, see it below. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia obviously want to congratulate the World Cup gold hero Hanna Öberg, as it is tradition for the royal couple to send congratulations to Swedish gold medalists at major championships.

Royal greeting
Just as the king and queen did to Öberg’s 2018 Olympic gold in Pyeongchang in the distance race, it became a favorite in replay with the most given choice of words to a biathlete who won gold.
“Hannah! Once again in the middle of nowhere! Big congratulations on the World Cup gold”, writes the royal couple in their official greeting to the Swede, see it below.

Hanna Öberg has already received greetings from the royal family and was obviously proud of the nice words.
– It’s fun that one’s successes are noticed a little wider and bigger, says Öberg in a statement to Dagens Nyheter.
