As an American network series, The Rookie usually has over 20 episodes per season. After the double strike in Hollywood, however, numerous series productions had to keep their productions shorter in order to even publish a (mostly delayed) season. With The Rookie it hit season 6 – and that’s there from December 18th on Disney+ in Germany.
Now on Disney+: The Rookie Season 6 is only half as long as usual
While Netflix subscribers are still waiting for season 5, you have been able to stream it on Disney+ for a long time and have even been able to watch it on free TV. Season 6 has so far only been available on WOW*. Unfortunately, season 6 includes The Rookie only ten episodesso only half as many as usual.
For a few months in 2023 and 2024, screenwriters and actors took to the streets to fight for better working conditions. This led to many film and series productions coming to a standstill. Season 6 of The Rookie also feels cramped and rushed, but the upcoming season 7 aims to make up for this with a return to the classic case-of-the-week narrative style.
What’s next in season 6 of The Rookie?
In Season 6, Nathan Fillion’s John Nolan is no longer a newcomer. Instead, he has the young police officer Celina at his side on patrol. However, in the finale of season 5, she and her colleague Aaron were brutally attacked in the evening. Season 6 makes a small time jump of several weeks, where Celina and Aaron want to resume their duties.
Meanwhile, the perpetrators have not yet been caught and are keeping the rookies busy for the entire season. Attorney Monica Stevens appears to be connected to them. However, the police can’t prove anything to her at first.
Meanwhile, a lot is happening with the other police officers and trainers. Lucy is studying diligently for her detective exam and Tim is putting their newly won love affair to the test. Plus, John and Bailey’s wedding is imminent, as well as a milestone for the series.
