With the seventh season of The Rookie, the police series with Nathan Fillion will again have a decent set of episodes, after season 6 had to be cancelled out with only ten episodes.
But the increased episode count of 18 missions is not the only thing that The Rookie will return to.
The Rookie Season 7 wants to be more episodic again
As showrunner Alexi Hawley explained to TVLine’s US colleague, the upcoming episodes will move away from continuous plots and back to the concentrated procedural roots of the format:
I think we will again go back to completed episodes with serial elementsbecause it’s going to be a longer season and I think people like that. There are also a lot of different ways to tell stories – whether it’s the big event episodes, the romcom episodes, or the big guest star ones. So it’ll be fun to go back to that.
The 7th season of The Rookie was commissioned by the US broadcaster ABC in April of this year. In Germany, the series can be streamed on Disney+, Netflix, WOW or in the ZDF Mediathek.
