The Romanian Revolution of 1989

Bucharest December 21, 1989. The Berlin Wall has fallen, but in Romania, Nicolas Ceausescu clings to power. For a week, in Timisoara, in the west of the country, the revolt has been rumbling. The dictator had specially returned from Tehran the day before to take matters into his own hands. A demonstration of force is hastily organized in front of the Central Committee building where thousands of workers must, as usual, confirm the omnipotence of the beloved General Secretary of the Communist Party. The message is clear: the rebellion will not pass. However, that’s when everything changed.
