Following Kurt Russell’s departure from Fast & Furious as agency head and ally of Dom’s team, Fast & Furious 10 introduces his successor. As new agency leader Aimes is Alan Ritchson, known for his leading role in the action series Reacher.
In an interview, Ritchson has now opened up about having big shoes to fill for his Fast & Furious role. At first, the character was supposed to be played by Keanu Reeves!
Keanu Reeves has been in talks for the Fast & Furious role for some time
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ritchson revealed that he not the first choice for Aimes in Fast & Furious 10 was:
It was just a stroke of luck and good timing. I was working on a film with Hilary Swank up in Winnipeg in the freezing cold, and I got a call that plans had changed with Keanu Reeves, who I think was originally going to play my role. Hard to follow in his footsteps.
First, the star had yet to wrap up filming for the project with Hilary Swank. That almost didn’t happen, as Winnipeg was said to have been hit by the biggest blizzard in the Canadian city’s history. Nevertheless, the shooting went well and the actor was able to take on the Fast & Furious 10 part.
When will Keanu Reeves finally star in Fast and Furious?
Keanu Reeves was been rumored to be in talks for the action series for some time with Vin Diesel. Back in 2019, we reported that he was set to star in Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw. But nothing came of it at the time.
After failing again with Fast & Furious 10, there may be room for the John Wick star in the upcoming finale of the action series. Vin Diesel has already spoken out about his desire to win Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. If Reeves can also be signed, the Fast saga really does end with a bang.
