The rock-hard message for Linn Svahn – the brutally honest words that decide everything for the Swede: “She must…”

Linn Svahn is fighting hard for a place at the World Ski Championships in 2023.
Then this weekend’s competition in Falun will be extremely decisive.
– She has to perform if she is going to participate, says coach Ola Ravald to Dagens Nyheter.

At the beginning of December did Lynn Svahn long-awaited comeback after almost two years of absence from the ski slopes. Then she won a national skiing competition in Idre and took a podium place in the Scandinavian Cup in Östersund.

Weak back

Since then, the big goal has been to reach the World Cup again in order to secure a place in the Swedish World Cup squad. The World Ski Championships in Planica, Slovenia, start on February 22 and Svahn is going to participate, she has decided that.
– I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by what she did during these two weekends (before Christmas). So far it’s positive – but she has to go up another level if she’s going to have anything to do with the top elite, says the coach Ola Ravald to DN.

Crucial weekend

If she fails this weekend, there will be no World Cup – and therefore no Skiing WC either.
– It depends on how things are going this weekend. You have to be very blunt and straight here: She has to perform if she’s going to go out (in the World Cup), and she doesn’t want to go out there if she doesn’t perform. If she delivers what we expect, she should reasonably get a place in the World Cup, but if she doesn’t, she won’t go out anyway. Then she has to train further and work, Ravald admits in the interview.

It has been a tough shoulder injury that has stopped Linn Svahn for the past two years. Before the misfortune happened, she was considered one of the world’s very best sprinters.

But now she is fully recovered again and hungry for revenge to show her full potential again.
– The shoulder is good. It is back at the same level and is basically as strong as the left one. Now it’s about getting up to competitive physical level and being out with the other girls in these race situations. She needs to come out and compete and get additional value meters in the World Cup. It is only then that you see how she is in concrete terms, says the trainer to the daily newspaper.
