Feyzin is a town of 10,000 inhabitants located in the south of the Lyon area. The municipality has to deal with heavy, dangerous and very polluting chemical industries sometimes classified as Seveso – but also a motorway and a regularly saturated wastewater treatment plant. And yet, unprecedented consultation work between elected officials, residents and businesses is bearing fruit. Reassured, the citizens accept their cumbersome neighbors and praise this original experience of participatory democracy called the riverside conference.
