The mass shooting at Campus Risbergska school in Örebro has left many shocked. Rickard Andersson35, has been identified as the perpetrator. He was alone, but the police have not yet revealed whether any ideological motives were behind the act.

The Security Police (Säpo) has now – just a few days after the massacre in Örebro – published its annual assessment of the terrorist threat in Sweden in 2025.

The terrorist level is estimated to remain from previous years, a four on a five -degree scale. Although the threat has not increased, it has changed, notes Ahn-Za HagströmHead of the National Center for Terror Threat Assessment (NCT), in a press release:

“Sweden has gone from being a priority goal in the propaganda last year to again being regarded as legitimate goals, as part of the West, for Islamist terrorist organizations. At the same time, we see several uncertainty factors in our surroundings that can affect the terrorist threat”.

Säpo notes that the main terrorist threat comes from “sole performance with violent Islamist or violent right -wing extremist motion, as well as before.

“We also see hybrids between different types of actors who together utilize society’s vulnerabilities to achieve their goals. The connections between state actors, networking -criminal individuals and people with ideological motives contribute to the fact that terrorism no longer looks like we have come to get used to” , says Ahn-Za Hagström in the press release.
