The RIG 800 Pro HS sounds great on PS5 and PC in the test, but gives away a lot of potential in 2 things

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

With the RIG 800 HS, Nacon has presented a gaming headset for PC, PS4 and PS5. MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann was able to test the gaming headset and explains whether the headset is worthwhile for everyday use.

With the RIG 800 HS, manufacturer Nacon offers a gaming headset for around 200 euros. In addition to a particularly low weight, the model offers a charging station where the headset can be stowed.

I was able to test Nacon’s gaming headset extensively for you and explain to you who the model is worth and where it weakens.

In addition to the gaming headset, there is also a micro-USB cable and an English quick start guide in the box. What is special, however, is the base station, which is also included. Because here you can “mount” the headset and charge it in this way.

On top of that, the base station offers the possibility of being connected to the PC or the PS5 via micro-USB and in this way also serving as a wireless connection. That means I connect the USB transmitter to the base station, then to the PS5 and the connection is established.

design and construction

Nacon’s device sports a sleek black look with no RGB lighting or other heavy embellishments. The microphone is permanently installed and can be folded up.

The headset also uses synthetic leather pads. Since the contact pressure is also quite high, my ears get quite warm under the padding after a few hours. At a room temperature of around 20 degrees, this is not so dramatic, but I imagine it to be uncomfortable in midsummer temperatures.

The controls are all on the left side of the headset and are easily accessible, large enough and well differentiated from each other.

The buttons are all on the left, but differ in their feel.

The headset comes with a cradle where you can place the headset, which will then charge it. The headset is charged both directly and at the station via micro-USB. In 2023, this is simply no longer up-to-date.

The charging time until the headset is full makes me correspondingly stunned. It says 7 hours, which is annoyingly long for a gaming headset. For comparison, the TurtleBeach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX charges for 8 hours in 15 minutes.

Incidentally, the included charging cable is far too short and just enough to connect the station to my PS5 or PC. On the PC or the PS5 I cannot use the headset with the cable in a meaningful way.

processing

The entire headset is made entirely of plastic and does not use any valuable materials. That’s pretty unfortunate for a headset that costs around 200 euros. I would have at least wished for steel-reinforced headbands, such as those offered by the ASTRO Gaming A50, which costs 80 euros more, or the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max, which costs the same

The advantage, however, is that the headset is modular. In theory, you can remove the headband, ear cups and also the cable duct in the headset.

software

The headset itself does not offer extensive software with additional functions on either the PS5 or the PC. You must therefore use the sound settings that the headset offers you right out of the box.

The setup is child’s play anyway. Because the base station or the wireless adapter is connected to the PC or PS5 and the connection is already established.

On the next page, I’ll go into the comfort, sound, and battery life of the headset.
