As oil terminals reopened and Libyan production resumed, Libyan and Qatari media revealed the reasons for the sudden release. According to Libya Press and Arabi21, emissaries of Marshal Khalifa Haftar and Prime Minister Abdelhamid Dbeibah met quietly in Abu Dhabi sealing an agreement.
Initiated by the Emirati ambassador to Libya, the recent meeting would have taken place between one of the sons of Marshal Khalifa Haftar and Ibrahim Dbeibah. The latter would be the nephew of the Prime Minister, to whom the latter appealed in many cases. The two strong men of Libya, like former guide Muammar Gaddafi, involve their families in political affairs.
According Arabi21, a Qatari news site, the meeting did not last long. The agreement reached between the two parties would have granted Khalifa Haftar 13 billion Libyan dinars [soit 2,6 milliards d’euros] of oil revenues, an amount he was claiming before the closing of the oil terminals.
