The recent cold snap has provided good conditions for ice skating on the water between the islets in Stockholm. Sunny videos from Riddarfjärden and other parts of Mälaren have been seen on social media.
But the weather has become milder this weekend, which can make the ice treacherous.
– Temperature, wind and underwater currents all affect the strength of the ice, says Mikael Stening, fire chief at Greater Stockholm’s fire service.
