On Wednesday, Greta Thunberg was sentenced for the second time to daily fines after a climate action in Malmö.
During the week, she participated in protests in central Oslo against the wind turbines in Fosen, and on Friday she was taken away by police after blocking the entrance to a ministry building.
On Saturday, she gave a speech outside the Storting where hundreds of protesters had gathered.
“Can’t be sustainable”
She stated that both Norway and Sweden often want to see themselves as progressive countries. But that the countries still violate human rights in terms of how they treat indigenous rights.
– Right now, the excuse is often used that it is needed for the green transition. But a green transition that comes at the expense of human rights and indigenous peoples cannot be sustainable. Climate justice cannot happen without decolonization, that is a fact. That’s why I and other climate activists from Sweden are here and show that we stand united in your fight, which has been going on for centuries and is still unfortunately vital, she says.

At the same time, the Progressive Party wants to deport Greta Thunberg from Norway and stop her from visiting the country again.
– We do not benefit from foreign professional protesters being allowed to return to Norway, if they have previously committed illegal acts, says the party’s immigration policy spokesperson Erlend Wiborg.
Greta Thunberg’s Norwegian lawyers have responded to Frp’s proposal.
“Serious and illegal”
“Deporting Fosen protesters on the grounds of civil disobedience would be serious and illegal,” Thunberg’s lawyers Olaf Halvorsen Rønning and Maria Hessen Jacobsen say in a press release.
As Greta Thunberg is an EU citizen, the lawyers point out that she must pose a “serious threat” to basic societal values in order to be deported.
“On the contrary, the Norwegian values of democracy and freedom of expression are something that the majority value highly,” they say.
