DUNE PART 2. Due to the writers’ and actors’ strike that is hitting Hollywood, “Dune: Part 2” has had its release date pushed back to 2024.
[Mis à jour le 28 août 2023 à 11h21] Bad news for Dune fans. The continuation of science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve will not be released on the scheduled date. Initially announced for November 1, 2023, Dune: Part 2 suffered the full brunt of the writers’ and actors’ strike that is raging in Hollywood.
The actors could not ensure the promotion of the film, Warner Bros decided to postpone the film. The release date is now set for March 15, 2024 in the United States, and should logically be released two days earlier in France, on March 13.
In this new adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel, the plot will pick up directly after the first part, when Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) joins the Fremen. He will attach himself to Chani (Zendaya) while preparing his revolt against the Harkonnens, who destroyed his family.
Dune 2 will see new faces make up its cast. Florence Pugh has been cast as Princess Irulan, while Austin Butler (Elvis) will play Feyd-Rautha. They will be accompanied by Christopher Walken (Emperor Shaddam IV Corrino), Léa Seydoux (Lady Margot Fenring) and Souheila Yacoub. Timothée Chalamet takes over the role of Paul Atréides, alongside Zendaya (Chani), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), Javier Bardem (Stilgar), Rebecca Ferguson (Dame Jessica) and Stellan Skarsgard (Baron Harkonnen).
