The release date of Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and Xbox One postponed again

The release date of Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and Xbox

After the commercial and technical success of Hogwarts Legacy on PS5, PC and Xbox Series, Avalanche is taking a little longer to deliver its flagship game to PS4 and Xbox One.

After exceeding one billion euros in revenue and 12 million copies sold in the two weeks following its release, Hogwarts Legacy is experiencing a small setback. Indeed, the game from Avalanche Software and Warner Bros Games has yet to be released on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and it is the two old-gen consoles that are in the center of attention today. Because once again, the game has seen its release date pushed back by a month on Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Information confirmed by Avalanche Software on the game’s official Twitter page.

This is bad news that we could have suspected: Hogwarts Legacy will not be released anytime soon on PS4 and Xbox One. The game, which has already appeared on next-gen consoles and PC, has had its release date pushed back from April 4 to May 5, 2023. Yet another postponement for a game with ambitious graphics, perhaps too ambitious for older generation consoles. This is also confirmed by the message from the game’s developers, who claim to want to provide a quality experience on all game media, and that this desire implies taking a little more time in the development and optimization of PS4 and Xbox One versions. The release date on Nintendo Switch remains completely unchanged and fixed at July 25, 2023. Although one always wonders how the small Japanese console could assume the technical and graphic ambition of such a title. Case to follow.
