Tiphaine Veron disappeared in the region of Nikko, in Japan, famous for its mountainous landscapes, its temples, on July 29, 2018, while she was spending her holidays there. For his family, after years of struggle, things may finally be moving. The investigation is taken over by the pole “ VSold case », the center of unsolved cases of Nanterre.

On the other hand, the UN committee against enforced disappearances has asked Japan to resume the investigation. Surprisingly, the requests made by French justice in the form of an international letter of request had not necessarily upset them.point Damien Veron, brother of Tiphaine, joined by RFI. But the fact that it is the UN that addresses the Japanese, with concrete demands in public opinion, they realized that ultimately the demands made by the French judge were close to those of the UN. This gave even more credibility to France’s demands. »

Support the relatives of other missing French people

Damien Veron wants the families of other French people who have disappeared abroad to benefit from this experience: ” We also realized during these five years that we were not the only families struggling to find a loved one who disappeared abroad. We have many exchanges with other victims who have disappeared abroad and we realized that we did not necessarily have help to support us in these searches. For this reason, we have decided to create an association to precisely support families in their research.

A video has been uploaded to promote Atred. The families of the disappeared want to raise public awareness: ” It has been almost eleven years since my sister Laeticia Czuba disappeared in Bordighera, near the Italian border. », Says the sister of a missing person.

Is the disappearance voluntary or involuntary, accidental or criminal? We are alone in this dilemma », says Damien Veron. Today, we ask justice to take into account the elements… asks another relative of a missing person.

Laeticia, Michael, Matthieu… Dozens of them disappear abroad each year. The funds raised by Atred will be partly intended to finance research in parallel with that of the local police.
