We often speak of childhood as a lost paradise: that of carelessness, first discoveries, dreams and games. When these first years of life are spent in the lush nature and the heat of the tropics, the departure can be heartbreaking and the loss painful. Except perhaps if this lost paradise was a stolen paradise.
