In Gabon, have the recommendations of the inclusive national dialogue held in Libreville from April 2 to 30 become a dead letter? Or are they locked in drawers more than a month later? So many questions that the Gabonese are asking themselves. And to try to respond, the Prime Minister, Raymond Ndong Sima held a press conference on Tuesday, June 18, in Libreville. There were no sensational announcements, but the Prime Minister, Raymond Ndong Simareassured the Gabonese that his government is working to implement all the recommendations of the inclusive national dialogue. The task is immense, he said before explaining his working method.
To implement the 1,000 recommendations of the dialogue, 2,100 actions are necessary, that is to say, issuing orders, decrees and above all initiating draft laws. Raymond Ndong Sima insisted on one point: the application of all the recommendations will not be possible before the referendum which will allow the adoption of a new Constitution for the Gabon.
“ The recommendations of the dialogue, to be fully taken into account, must go through the change of constitution box. Secondly, I remind you that the referendum can be “yes”, it can be “no” “, said Raymond Ndong Sima.
The constitutional referendum is scheduled before the end of next December. Its organization is a real headache, because the dialogue recommended the suspension of all political parties and above all, entrusted the organization of the elections to the Ministry of the Interior. The parties are up in arms against these recommendations.
