It is said that the construction companies do not take care of their scrap in the form of screws, nails and other scrap. In turn, this results in more and more people suffering from punctures.

– One might think that people should keep a better eye on screws, nails and other things, so that they don’t lie on the roads. It is the most common reason why people come here with punctures, explains Linus Angelo from Örby Gummi to Carup.

However, it is something the construction industry is reluctant to accept and claims that the phenomenon is also new to them.

– We have not come across the issue before, but in general it is of course important to handle all material in a careful way, says Håkan Lind at Byggföretagarna.

However, it is also the driver’s responsibility to think about where they are driving. For example, punctures can be caused by nails at recycling stations, and the like.

When the snow sets in, however, it’s another culprit that causes a lot of punctures: road salt.

“Salt puncture”

It turns out that the road salt contributes to a lot of punctures, a problem that is also difficult to solve.

– Then it is often the salt on the roads that causes the paint on the rims to leak down to the tire and/or the valve, which leads to many punctures, explains Linus Angelo.

The best protection against salt flats is to frequently wash your car and rinse the wheels.
