Ubisoft announced the details of the final postponement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Complex rooftop trails in feudal Japan extended the development process.
Assassin’s Creed ShadowsWhile , is preparing to be released on March 20, 2025, the reason for the final postponement of the game has been announced. Ubisoft announced that they are focusing on the parkour system, taking into account player feedback. The game’s director, Charles Benoit, stated that it was necessary to develop special animations and codes due to the “super complex roofs” in Japanese architecture. This extra effort was made to make the course mechanics smoother.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Feudal Japan Challenges
Benoit emphasizes that Japanese architecture is much more complex than other Assassin’s Creed games. The design of the roofs was one of the biggest factors affecting the track system in particular. “Compared to Odyssey and Syndicate, the most complicated thing I worked on was the Japanese roofs,” Benoit said, adding that these designs caused problems in track transitions. The development team reworked the track animations and transition systems to solve these issues.
The delay was used not only to make the parkour mechanics, but also to make the progression system more interesting and to ensure the overall balance of the game. Ubisoft states that these adjustments will provide players with a more satisfying experience.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was originally planned to be released in November 2024, was postponed to February 2025 and then to March 2025. Most of the postponements were made in response to player feedback. Players seem to appreciate the fluidity of the game’s parkour system and its sensitivity to environmental details. Another notable innovation is that the Animus Hub, which is part of Ubisoft’s long-awaited Assassin’s Creed Infinity platform, will be included in the game. This feature aims to offer an expanded universe for players.
