the ratings fell and it was a critical failure

Monday January 23, 2023 at 3 p.m., this is the date on which the press was authorized to give its verdict on Forspoken, the action-RPG from Square Enix and Luminous Productions. All the press? Not really. Only a few hand-picked media had been meticulously chosen by the Japanese publisher to give their final verdict, many editorial staff having been excluded from the review session. Despite this, the reception around the game remains quite icy, especially if you go to the ratings aggregator Metacritic, which displays an average of 66% at the time of writing these lines. We certainly find very correct or even very good ratings, but most of the editorial staff remain quite disappointed with the proposal of the studio which probably did not understand the interest of an open world in 2023. Many speak of a wasted potential , with to begin with graphics that are not up to par, gameplay that lacks conviction, a story that is not very exciting and a game that gives the impression of arriving 5 years behind what is done in Action- RPG today.
