Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson evaluated the rate of supporters of NATO membership in the country before the Russia-Ukraine war, from 25 percent to 49 percent, according to the latest opinion polls, according to the official news agency TT.

Expressing that he understands the concerns of the people and that the security situation in the country has changed last week, Andersson said:
“I think it is completely understandable that the attitude of our citizens has changed due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Our security situation has changed dramatically in the last week. Despite this, I have my doubts about holding a referendum for NATO membership. Not every issue is brought to the public.”
Stating that they will develop security cooperation with the USA and neighboring countries, Andersson stated that they will strengthen the defense area with the USA and Finland due to Russia’s aggressive attitude towards Ukraine and European security. (AA)
