Egyptian state television broadcast live the opening ceremony of the 2,700-meter-long historical corridor called the “Ram-Headed Sphinx Road” that connects the ancient Egyptian temples of Karnak and Luxor.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah es-Sisi, some Egyptian ministers, ambassadors of foreign countries, international media organizations and artists attended the opening ceremony of the aforementioned historical corridor, which was unearthed during long-term archaeological excavations.
At the ceremony, a large orchestra played musical instruments representing the ancient Egyptian period and music representing the Pharaonic period.
REMAINS FIRST DISCOVERED IN 1948
The remains of the Ram-Headed Sphinx Road, one of the world’s largest open archaeological sites and connecting the temples of Karnak and Luxor, built during the Pharaonic era, were first discovered in 1948.
Egypt started the restoration of the historical corridor, which is about 3 kilometers long, which is opened today and has 1200 ram-headed sphinxes on both sides, in 2005.
